Stating who is paying or planning the shower on the invitation?

I am doing all the legwork and planning for a “small” (40-45 on guest list”) shower for my sister and my parents are paying a portion of money towards it. My mother INSISTS on me putting somewhere on the invitation “The shower is given by; #sister#, #father# and #mother#.” I find this unnecessary and somewhat rude, am I wrong? This is not a high dollar shower or formal event (such as a wedding where it does state who is presenting the wedding in the invitation).

I honestly don’t think it matters either way. Technically, if the parents are paying for some of it, then they are helping to throw the shower. But, I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary for their names to be on the invitation just because they are putting money out. That sounds kind of petty to me. But, since they are giving you a hard time about it, I would just add their names to it and be done with it. Why add aggravation to your life over something this small?
