My niece was born 2 weeks ago. And I want to have a welcome celebration for her. But I dont want our guest to assume that its a baby shower. Can some one help me with the wording I would write in my invitations.

thank you

Good question…

It sounds like you want people to come out to see the new baby, but you will not be doing the traditional baby shower stuff like playing games and accepting gifts. If this is the case, I would just write a standard invitation, but call the party a “welcome celebration” instead of a baby shower, and put a note on the bottom stating that you do not want gifts. You can say something like “No need to bring gifts, we just want your company”, something like that.

You can also use a baby sprinkle invitation, and ask the guests to bring stuff like diapers and wipes, but no big gifts like clothes, toys and travel gear. I have some baby sprinkle invitation wording ideas on the “invitation” page on this site.
