Am I getting a baby shower

Is it rude to ask someone to throw a baby shower for you? My baby is due in about 2 months and no one has mentioned anything about a shower yet! My mom or sister could be throwing a surprise shower, but I’m not sure. I really want a shower for my new baby!

You never know!

Anonymous west coast,

I find it very hard to believe that you are not getting a baby shower. Like you said, this is your first child and their first grandchild.

Maybe they are acting clueless because they're really trying to hide a surprise from you?

I bet they are planning something behind your backs. So don't get discouraged.

subtle hints don't seem to be working
by: Anonymous west coast

My husband and I live on the west coast and our families live in the mid west. We've brought up hints of whether or not someone may be throwing a baby shower for us. Both families were clueless and responded that they didn't know anything about a baby shower for us. I'm due in 3 mths and we're disappointed no one is throwing a baby shower for us, especially on his family, being that we are the only couple having children and this is our first child, not to mention the first grand child in his family. I can tell my husband is very disappointed. We don't know what to do... I'm upset that no one cares enough to host a shower, but it seems so tacky to ask for a baby shower for our baby. We'll just get things for our baby on our own.

Your own baby shower
by: Sonya

Some people think it's rude to ask for a baby shower or to throw one for yourself, because it would seem like you're being greedy. If you think you might be getting a surprise shower, try to find out without being too obvious. Subtly bring up the situation in conversation. Say something like "I'm thinking about having a little get-together after the baby comes", and see what they say.
