Making Men Feel Welcome

by Kara

We are throwing a baby shower for a friend and she would like the guys to take part in it or at least show up. Is there anything that can be incorporated into a baby shower to make it more man friendly? Something so they do not feel quite as uncomfortable?

Co-ed baby shower

by: Sonya

Hi Kara,

There are lots of things you can do at a baby shower to make the men feel welcome. It’s pretty common these days to have men at baby showers, so it became pretty much a “must do” to make these celebrations more “man friendly”.

Here are a few ideas:

-Have a sports themed shower. A sports theme will work well with a boy or girl. Whatever theme you choose, stay away from those “girly” themes, like the princess theme.

-Play lots of action baby shower games. Men like to be competetive, and they do not want to just sit around and be bored. So try to come up with some games that will allow them to move around the room and interact with each other.

-Give out special favors just for the guys. As an example, fill small baby bottles with bar-b-que sauce or some spices, and tie the bottles with a cute bow. You can also give out cigars or beer bottles with bows.

These are just a few ideas you can use for a successful co-ed shower. Check out my “types of showers” page (on the menu bar) for more insight.
