Shower days and times

Is it alright to have a baby shower on a Friday evening? We are having a large shower (70 or so people) and that many people will not fit in my home. We're on a tight budget, so we are wanting to use our church, but they are booked for events on the Saturday that we need for the shower. Would it be okay to have the shower on Friday evening and serve coffee and dessert?
