Should I attend the baby shower

by Tamara
(St.. Cloud, MN)

I recently married a man. We are both in our late 50's. I received an invitation for his neice's baby shower. She was registered. I did get her a nice gift. However...I really don't know their people. Is it mandatory that I be there? I fear that I am becoming anti-social in my old age...lol. (I would rather not attend.)

Thanks

I think it would be nice if you went
by: Sonya

I think it would be a nice gesture if you go. But if you don't, no big deal. If you feel a little uncomfortable about going, you could always just go to show your face, stay for a little bit, and tell the niece that you cannot stay long because of a prior commitment.

Besides, you did already buy her a gift, so you have shown your courtesy already. You are not obligated to show up just because you got an invite.
