Mom to be late for her own shower?

by Anonymous

I'm throwing a shower for a friend of mine and she insists on being late because she's never heard of being on time for a party that is thrown for you. Is this okay?? Or should she be there on time to greet her guests?

Before Shower

I think it would be better for the mom to be to be there before the guests arrive. It will be easier greeting them as they come in than her arriving late and everyone fighting for her attention at once. Unless, of course, it's a surprise shower.

She should be there on time

I don't see the point of her being late to her own shower. As you have said, she should be there before everyone else to greet her guests as they arrive. The only reason you should be late to a party that is thrown for you is if it's a surprise party. Otherwise, I think it would be a bit rude to be late if everyone is there to see you. The party cannot start without her. If she's late, everyone will just have to sit around until she gets there.
