Invitation to Baby Shower of Mother to be that you don't know

I have been invited to a close friend's grandson's wife baby shower. We do not know each other. I this etiquette? I can see it if it was my friend's son or daughter, but grandson?

People often invite their friends to their relative's baby shower, even though the friend and the guest of honor do not know each other. And this is perfectly fine.

If you do not feel comfortable going since you do not know them, that is fine too. And do not feel obligated to purchase a gift either.

You probably just received the invited as a courteous gesture, since you are one of the grandmother's friends.
