Destination baby shower

My son and daughter-in law live in LA Calif. They are coming visiting in May and I want to have a Baby shower for her. I don't know what to do about gifts, since they live so far away and shipping would be an issue.

Mix it up.... NEW

Instead of JUST gift cards....just ask the invited guests to keep in mind that gifts have to be transported/shipped back to California. With this is mind folks should keep the gifts smaller and then gift cards can be purchased to put towards any larger items they may need.

This way there are gifts to open at the baby shower (the best part of a baby shower is oohing and aahing over the little booties and pajamas!)plus there may be some gift cards to put towards bigger items once they return home.

You could either just ask all the guests to contribute to a joint gift card, or ask them to bring gifts and you pay for the cost of shipping to their home.

I think the gift card is the best option because no one would have to worry about shipping, they could just use the gift card to do their own shopping.
