Check out these baby shower invitation templates that I put together. Putting them together was so easy, anybody can do it. Creating your own invites from scratch gives you endless possibilites.

I used a variety of theme related images and changed the wording a bit for each example. You can use these samples for your invites or make your own completely from scratch. In either case, all you need is Microsoft Word and a printer.

If you want to use one of the samples above, here are the printing instructions:
  • -Right click on the image and select "save as".
  • -Save the image under "my pictures" in any folder.
  • -Open MS Word.
  • -Click on the "Insert" tab, select "picture", then select "from file".
  • -Your folders box will pop up.
  • -Find the picture, double click on it, and it will appear as a new Word Doc.
  • -Now you are ready to print.

If you want to make your own invite, follow these simple instructions:

Open a blank document in MS Word.

Simply type whatever you want your invitation to say. Start out with something simple like "please join us for a baby shower for Beth". Or, check out these invitation wording ideas to start your invites.

Next, type out the date, time, place, and RSVP info. For the templates above, I added lines for writing this information, but that is optional.

I also centered the heading and aligned everything else to the left. Again, this is optional. You can center the entire invite if you'd like.

When you start typing, the words will automatically be aligned to the left. If you want to center them, just use your mouse to higlight the words, and click the "align center" tab on the toolbar. It's located next to the bold, italics and underline tabs.

If you want to add a picture, click on the "insert" tab on the toolbar, then select "clipart". Search for the type of picture you are looking for. When you find the pic you want, double click on it, and it will automatically be added to the Word doc. Resize the picture if needed. *TIP - If you cannot find an adequate picture in the clipart section, check out Microsoft's extended clipart gallery here.

Now that you've added all your text and images, highlight the entire document and click on "format" on the toolbar, then select "borders and shading". This is where you can add a border to your invite. You can choose to border the entire document, or just part of it. You can also choose from a variety of border styles and change the color. Once you've customized your border, click "ok" and will automatically be added to your document.

Now, your creation complete. Make sure you proofread it and double check all the settings. Save the document just so you'll have it for later.

When you are ready to print, choose a heavy card stock, which you can find at any stationary store. Just print as you normally would for any word document.

Some additional tips:
*Depending on your theme, you can use a variety of colors for your invites. For example, use yellow and blue paper for the "sailboat" theme, and light green and light brown for a "Pooh" shower.

*If you have MS Publisher, this may be a better tool than MS Word. Publisher allows you to add text boxes in various places, use backgrounds, and add custom borders. You can also use Publisher to make 1/2 and 1/4 fold cards. This can be done with Word, but Publisher makes it much easier.

*Instead of using your computer to add images or backgrounds, you can also buy pre-designed card stock. Stationary stores carry plenty of printer paper designed with cute baby graphics and borders.

*Use MS Word or Publisher to make matching thank you cards. After you create your invitations, make sure you save your work, and you can use the same template for you thank you cards or birth announcements.
