I was just wondering if it is still customary for any "prizes" won from the games played at the shower are to be baby items that the winner will give to the mom to be?

Game prizes should be things that the winners can use, not the mom-to-be NEW

Using game prizes is one of the ways that you acknowledge the guests at the party. Yes, the party is mainly about the mom and the baby, but you want your guests to be a part of the celebration as well. Choose gifts that they can use well after the party. The prizes should be things that they will want to take home with them and actually get some use out of. For example, a small bottle of lotion or a small make-up kit would be ideal.
