More baby shower foods
to go with your main dishes

Here are more recipes of baby shower foods to go with your main dishes. You can choose to serve a light side dish, like vegetables, or something more hearty like potatoes.

These baby shower foods will go great with almost any main dish.

Note: These side dish recipes will serve 10-12 people.

Let's start cooking!

Steamed vegetables

-1 lb. broccoli spears
-3 bag of Carrots
-3 large Squash
-3 large Zucchini
-1 Lemon
-Salt
-Pepper

Rinse all vegetables.
Cut off root and tip of carrots and shred.
Slice carrots into long strips, then cut the strips into to 3 or 4 pieces.
Slice squash and zucchini, and then cut the slices in half.
Place veggies in a large pot with water, steam until veggies are soft, but still have a slight crunch.
Once veggies are cooked, drain and place them in a serving dish.
Sprinkle juice from the lemon, and a dash of salt and pepper over the veggies.
Serve warm.

Baked red potatoes and onions

-1 bag of red potatoes
-1 large onion
-Seasoned salt
-Garlic powder
-Pepper
-Parsley flakes
-Olive Oil

Rinse the potatoes and pat dry.
Cut potatoes into fours and place in a large bowl.
Dice onion into large chunks and add to potatoes.
Season potatoes and onion with seasoned salt, garlic power and pepper.
Sprinkle parsley flakes into the bowl and mix.
Add olive oil and make sure all the ingredients are coated with the oil.
Place food in shallow baking dish, and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Stir potatoes occasionally.
Serve warm.

White rice

-6 cups of water
-3 cups of rice
-2 tablespoons of margarine
-Salt

Boil water in a large saucepan.
Add rice and let water return to a boil.
When the water starts to boil again, turn heat to low, and simmer covered for 20 minutes.
Remove rice from heat, and let sit covered for 5 minutes.
Add margarine and a few dashes of salt and fluff with fork.
Put rice in serving bowl and serve warm.

Sweet potatoes

-3-32 oz. cans of sweet potatoes in light syrup
-1 cup white sugar
-1 cup light brown sugar
-1/2 stick of butter

Pour potatoes with syrup and margarine in a large saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, uncovered, for 15 minutes.
Stir in sugars and continue to cook for another 30 minutes, or until syrup starts to boil.
You can sweeten the potatoes to your taste. If they are too sweet, dilute them with more margarine.
Pour potatoes into large serving bowl and serve warm.

Other ideas for baby shower foods and side dishes

*If there will be men at the party, serve a finger food side dish such as french fries or onion rings.

*As with your main dish, you can serve 2 or more side dishes. If you choose to do this, make sure the baby shower foods you choose go well with your main entree. For example, if you're serving pepper steak, you can make both rice and potatoes so that your guests can choose their preference.

*Consider use 3 part paper plates to keep the side dishes separate from the other baby shower foods. If you're serving baked ziti and veggies, you may not want the pasta sauce to run into your vegetables.
