Afraid no one will throw a baby shower for me

My baby is due the first of January and I am booked solid with other activities out of town every weekend from Mid-October through Christmas. So basically my baby shower(s) need to be by the 2nd weekend of October. A few people have asked if I wanted one, but that's it. I don't have anything set in stone yet and I am afraid people will try to do them when I am not available. How do I find out if the people are planning on throwing me a shower and or tell people that I have to have it by mid-October due to busy schedule remainder of the year? Also, my parents can't afford to do a shower but my mother-in-law doesn't seem to be interested in hosting it alone even though this is her first grandchild. Don't know how to handle that?

you're lucky anyone has even asked you about having a shower. i'm pregnant with my first baby and i'm sure no one is going to throw one for me since all my family and friends live in nj and i live in nc. i'm just thankful that my dad and brothers have asked me what i would like them to buy as "baby gifts" cos i think that's all i'm going to get from anyone! this all just makes me even more depressed that my mom isn't around because if she was, i'm sure i would be having a shower...

You need to subtly mention during conversation that you are going to be really busy. Have a regular conversation the people that you think may be throwing a shower for you, and think of a way to add this into the conversation, without having to outright ask if you are getting a shower. You can say something like "you know, I can't wait till I have some real time to rest. I have so much stuff to do for the next few months." And since you need to have your shower by mid-October, the sooner you do this, the better.
